Summer Events at the Morton Arboretum

Wednesday Nights: the Return of Arbor Evenings

This summer, spend Wednesday evenings at The Morton Arboretum relaxing with loved ones and friends. On the gorgeous Frost Hill, socialize while listening to live music surrounded by lovely trees!

Tickets include access to events, live music, and the Arboretum. Tickets are necessary for all visitors. We welcome families.
There is music from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. At 5:15 p.m., Arboretum admission and Arbor Evenings will start.
This year's Arbor Evenings won't feature meals from The Ginkgo Grill. Instead, visitors can savor the various food trucks that will be there each week. Bring a picnic from home, or take advantage of the weekly changing food trucks that will be present. Any type of packaged, nonalcoholic beverage is permitted for visitors to bring. Reusable containers must be emptied when you arrive.

Walking Plays

In the midst of 1,700 acres of lush vegetation and picturesque scenery, follow the action of your favorite literary stories as they are presented live. All Walking Plays last roughly 90 minutes and have a maximum hiking distance of two miles.

Walking Plays are whole plays that have been specially developed for The Morton Arboretum and are presented by trained local actors. Along a one- to two-mile trekking trail, a walk leader leads the audience to each scene, which is set against a variety of picturesque natural settings. It is advised that attendees bring portable chairs or blankets for seating, insect spray, and water.

2022 Season

A Walk with Joy

A Walk with Joy is a centenary commemoration that offers a closer look at the life of Joy Morton, the woman who founded the arboretum. Beginning in 1922, the night before The Morton Arboretum opens to the public, Joy has a dream in which he revisits his own recollections and journeys into the past, present, and future. He is led by a "salty," modern take on the Morton Salt Girl, who shows the way with warmth, humor, and wit.

Dates:

July 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31

August 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28

The performances take about 90 minutes and begin at 6:00 p.m.

Winnie the Pooh

The first book in the renowned series by A.A. Milne was adapted into the timeless story of Winnie the Pooh. We meet Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh, and their woodland buddies as they discover friendship, mischief, and honey in our very own version of the "100 Acre Wood." These entertaining stories highlight imagination, music, and play and are a romp to amuse the whole family, making everyone feel young at heart.

Dates:

October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30

The performances begin at 4:00 pm and last for around 90 minutes.
